York Castle Museum, part of the York Museums Trust, is a renowned visitor attraction that takes you on a captivating journey through 400 years of York’s rich history. With a diverse range of gallery spaces, including a recreated Victorian street, original prison cells, fashion galleries, and a World War I exhibition, the museum offers an immersive experience for the whole family.
As York Castle Museum aimed to increase visitor numbers, particularly between January and March, they faced the challenge of creating a compelling video marketing campaign that would position the museum as a must-visit destination. The goal was to convey the unique and engaging experiences offered within the museum’s walls, from discovering the stories of people’s lives to immersing oneself in the sights and sounds of a real Victorian and Edward Street, and exploring York Castle’s dark history as a prison.
To address this challenge, York Castle Museum commissioned ROi Media Productions to create a series of trailer videos that would be used across various platforms, including their website and social media channels. The video production process involved close collaboration with the museum team. ROi met with the team, walked through the site, and spent time brainstorming ideas, further shots, actions, and other elements to include in the final storyboard. The museum’s input was crucial, with sign-off required at each production step to ensure the videos aligned with their vision. The envisioned approach incorporated a lot of movement with the camera and a high focus on emotion through the on-screen talent. ROi also delivered a comprehensive video marketing strategy to ensure maximum impact and engagement across channels.
